Domain name transfer

A domain name transfer (or domain re-registration) is a process whereby an Internet domain name is moved from one registered domain provider, or hosting provider, to another provider, or hosting provider. This allows the website owner to change domain provider without losing the domain name. This is something like number portability with mobile operators.

Domain transfers usually consist of a few steps. You need to set the correct DNS settings at the new domain provider to point the domain name to the new provider. You will need to notify the old provider of your intention to move and usually provide a special code that identifies the domain owner and confirms your intention to move.

The time taken to move a domain can vary, usually between a few days and two weeks, depending on how quickly the two providers work. It is important to pay attention to the timing so as not to cause downtime or confusion for website visitors. That is, the move should be made before a hosting service expires and you no longer want to extend it.

Domain transfers usually have a cost, which may vary depending on the service provider.

Once the domain name has been successfully transferred to the new provider, the website will be hosted by the new provider and the new provider will be responsible for the maintenance and management of the domain name.

Amount to be paid to me for the process: from 25.000, Ft expected

The price will depend on how well the website is in order, how much work needs to be done on it before the relocation can begin. We only move websites that are in perfect health, so if necessary they need to be cleaned, tidied up and "cured" beforehand. Moving a neglected, faulty, sick website can lead to errors and there is a risk that the move will fail. The website will then be damaged, crash and become unavailable. The error may not be correctable afterwards.
